Ramses Girgis’ Profile
Since his retirement as Vice-President of Technology Resource Development at Nortel Networks, Ramses Girgis has founded Pharos Consulting with an office in Ottawa, Ontario, and guided this firm to achievement in the Canada and abroad. Serving clients such as the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency, the Conference Board, Nortel Networks, start-ups such as Globeranger and not-for-profit organizations such as the Ottawa Inner-city Ministries, Ramses has established himself as a respected international consultant in BMA Lite®, his leadership and strategic management system grounded in the Balanced Scorecard and Baldrige Quality Awards principles and congruent with the European and Canadian Awards for Business Excellence.
Long interested in Business Effectiveness, and in fact a winner in 1997 of Nortel’s Baldrige-based Customer First Marble Award, Ramses was an internal Nortel Senior Baldrige Examiner, and also its member on the Conference Board’s Forum for Business Excellence. Ramses sought to design a leadership system derived from the line manager’s perspective, while drawing upon the best in the Quality literature. The result is BMA Lite®, a theoretically sound yet highly practical system deployed at the heart of an organization and leading clients to levels of excellence they thought impossible.
During more than thirty-five years in the telecommunications high-tech industry in Canada, the United States and abroad in Europe, Egypt, Turkey and Trinidad & Tobago, Ramses’s career encompassed senior positions in research and development management, sales and marketing, installation engineering, design and verification, customer service and information management. It is upon this firm foundation of pragmatic management and leadership that Ramses has built BMA Lite®, yielding a flexible system designed for rapid response and tangible, measurable results throughout organizations in all sectors, including start-ups, where the need to quickly align an executive team from varied cultures is critical. It is this melding of experience with the best of the quality theory that makes Ramses’s methodology both innovative and immediately effective. Indeed, client response indicates that once BMA Lite® takes hold within an organization, both leadership and work are transformed permanently.
Ramses is active in the Hi-tech start-ups field on boards of directors as well as being a founding member of ‘Purple Angel’ an early investor group formed of ex-Nortel executives, and is a sought-after speaker on management, leadership and quality systems.
